As the website was not created last season, below is what Danny wrote about the lads in the booklets given out on Presentation Night.
Once again the under 6's are at the end of another season, and here we are at the presentation night again. I never thought that when my bother Steve and I took over running the team back in October, that things would work out so well.
As I said, back in those cold October days we made a start as a new under 6's squad with only seven boys, but after a few weeks advertising and word of mouth, the squad had increased in numbers and we had enough players for a match after the training sessions. Then we had our forst match, against Clifton Rovers, at Stanley Park. We had enough boys but no kit, but after a few phone calls we managed to borrow a complete set from Russell (many thanks Russ) and when the boys turned out at the park they looked great, and Im sure it helped to get the good results we got in both matches. As a result from that game two boys from Clifton, who are now part of the squad, joined us. As the season progressed we had futher games, a memorable one in the mud at Squires Gate, against their under 7's.b We got beat but gave a good account of ourselves and the mud washed off. We beat our local rivals Foxhall at home after conceading the first goal, coming out winners by 4 goals to 1. Then we played Bispham and once again the team were successful with two good results.
Now the team has grown in numbers and we have fifteen very good players. Five are at Bolton Academy and one is at Man. Utd. Academy. Part way through the season we had a mixed age group, some of the boys were under five and it was decided to form an under 5's group with Pauk, one of the coaches from our group taking charge. A few weeks ago Kurt who now helps out with the coaching joined us. We also entered the Foxhall Easter Tournament. We were not successful but the boys gave us a good account of themselves and Im sure they learned a lot in the games they played.
To have a successful season we have had lots of invaluble help. We would like to thank all the parents for bringing the boys to the training sessions throughout the season, and for their help in raising funds to put towards the new equipment we were able to buy, with the generous help of South Shore Youth. Thank you also to Bev for collecting all the subs, come rain or shine and to Rachel, our secretary and ideas person for all the work she does on behalf of the team. Finally to everyone who has stood on the touchline at our matches, thankyou for coming, your cheers are still ringing in our ears, we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Best Wishes,
Danny, Steve and Kurt
